I'm planning to install an Edelbrock 2105 intake manifold and 1406 4 barrel carb on my just rebuilt 72 F250 390 FE. Are there any gotchas in making this conversion? Any linkage or fuel line connection issues? Any other installation issues?
I'm sure others have done this conversion before. Are there any tech documents and/or user experience available? Any experience or opinions anyone can share (pros/cons, etc.)?
Thanks in advance,
Will

I did that exact same swap back in nov. and hav'nt had any problems with it. there were some carb link issues, i ended up fabing a differant link ( old peice of aluminum coat hanger).
I added a 2 inch spacer at the same time, and got the gaskets with the heat exchange blocked off, I think they were fel pro's , that makes a small differance.
Have fun
I have the automatic (C6). fordeverpower, do you know what the kickdown part number(s) might be (and vendor if not Edelbrock)? welldiver, what vendors/part numbers? Thanks!
Is that a offroad model? If you do alot of offroad i would consider installing the offroad kit, made a world off difference for me...but i bounce around alot
edelbrock makes the kickdowm bracket you need, pn #edl-1483, i would also get a tuning kit, and i would recommend the edelbrock fuel line , it just makes it look that much neater.
as far as the throttle linkage for my truck i went to a parts store and got two ball and socket connectors then went across the street to a hardware store and bought a piece of all thread took it home ripped out the old stuff and then installed the ball ends , after that i put one end on tested for legth and then cut the allthread screwed on the other end and called it a day. severley improved throttle response over that rocker thing on the intake.
#1483 is the throttle adapter but i don't know what the rod extension number is. Its for a small block but don't worry it fits. You can get this stuff from, adavance or carquest.
I am doing the same upgrade. I am having a problem with the linkage between the throttle assembly that bolts to the intake and the kickdown kit. The stock carb connected to the bottom, which when you push the peddle it pushed the bottom of the throttle clockwise. The kickdown kit will only allow you to connect it to the top. Which when you push the peddle it trys to turn the throttle the wrong direction. I fabricated a longer linkage but it isn't doing me any good. I would appreciate your input!
Did that.
Highly resommend the carb spacer.
My experience is that the Carter/Edelbrock style carbs with the fuel bowl directly above the intake acts as a heat sink...and contirbutes to vapor lock...or "fuel perculation" as Edelbrock Customer Service reps like to call it.
