ford\jeep spring swap
i have an 82 j10 with a 4 block lift in the rear (only 2leafs?) and i guess a 4" lift up front (no block up here) i really dont like the 2 leaf set up cause i am afraid to haul anything heavy. by buddy has the springs off his '02 ford 250 super duty pickup he will give me. at a glance they seem like the right length and width. but what i really need to figure out is how can you tell how much lift i will get out of them. i want to replace them all the way around cause one of my front springs is tweaked a little. i assume i just can not measure the arc of the spring laying on the floor, naturally it will decrease as the weight of the front end load it. so how much? 1" or 2" less than unloaded? any ideas? do you think these will give me a bad ride although it is pretty lousy now. any help would be appreciated. sorry for posting a jeep question on this board but i have a bit of a hybrid with the ford 460 under the hood.
