I just picked up my van last night from AAMCO, they wanted to put in a new tranny, I told them to do the flush, problem is completely gone now, good as new.
I have the same problem with my '97 F-150. Would you go with the complete flush or would a standard filter/fluid (where just the pan is dropped) change with the lube guard added do the trick. Truck has about 74Kmi. Don't know if trans. has ever been service, just bought it about 8k miles ago. Thanks.
Don't chance it. Get a complete clean and flush by Ford unless you know someone at AAmco. They are con artists and want to sell everyone a new trans. Ford $159.00, alot cheaper than a new torque converter. Don't wait to long. My 97 was better when I picked it up but it took about 100 miles for it to completly stop the shutter.
It was my understanding that Lubeguard was not necessary. I don't belive they put it in my van. They did replace the fluid with Micron 5. I think that has the reqired additives it needs. Ask the service tech. when you take it in.
Had Ford dealer flush trans yesterday. Seemed to take care of problem (knock on wood). Thank goodness. They said the lube guard was included in the flush kit they use. Thanks for the replies.
