I am wondering how to remove the plastic bed rail covers that came with my 2003 F150 Screw. I am planning on getting the bed of the truck LineX coated and would like to remove these before going there. I am also wonderig if there might be a chance of having the rectangled tie down holes in the rail like I have seen on other trucks.
Thanks in advance for any help before I just go nuts and rip them off and cause uneccessary damage.
I don't think you can get the stake hole pockets in the bed because it is fiberglass and can't take too much force. As for the rail covers, I know they are glued but I think they have some clips too and if you take them off you'll have holes in the rail. I just saw an F-150 with the tailgate protector off, and it also had a bunch of holes under there.
I'm not sure is a Screw is the same but on a regular box the rail caps just snap on.
They are really tight though and you might damage them when you pry them off.
I am not sure on the 2002, but my 97 has the glass bed (flareside) and they snap off. The only bad thing is that they are considered part of the bed its self and for mine (don't know about yours) after market ones will not work. So I ended up having to buy new ones from Ford. And if your not careful you can snap off one of the clip/plugs (whole thing completey molded) and even tear a hole in the rail cover and the rail cap will not lay right again. They were (surprise) pretty reasonable, but No options on styles or color.
