Are you saying that if the egt goes up the coolant temp goes down?If that is what you are saying, then you have it mixed up. Egt rises do to increased work (power) by the engine, do to increased combustion temperatures. In addition this causes cylinder temperatures to rise, oil temperature to rise and coolant temperature to rise. The advantage of an egt guage is that egt responds the quickest to temperature change. The water temp and oil temp respond slower. So by having an egt guage you are arware of the increased engine temperature much more quickly so that you can then lift out of the accelerator and/or downshift to lower the egt and this will also lower water temp and oil temp.
