i am currently looking to change from a 3" suspension lift to a 6" lift. i was wondering what lifts anyone is using? if anyone with a 6"suspension lift would be so kind as to tell me what type your using and what you like/dislike about it. also what size tires your running and with what gears. thanks a bunch everyone.
I don't have a lift, but I plan to someday and I can tell you what the local four-wheeling shop told me. Rough Country seems to be the least expensive, but apparently you get what you pay for with them. Pro Comp is supposed to be the best for your money. Quality suspension lift for just over $1000 ($1007, i believe). They do make a cheaper kit, but I was told that you need the new steering arms so that your tires won't rub. Thats what jacks the price up. I am planning on running 35"s on mine. Don't know how tall you could run them, but probably not too much bigger. I know nothing about gears.
I have a 90 bronco with a Pro-comp 6 inch lift with extended radius arms, bfg 35 X 12.50 inch mud terrains on a 15 X 10 rim, and 4.10 gear setup. I have been running this setup for about eight months now and the only thing I would have done different is used a 4.56 gear setup.
thanks a lot for your replies
ryan,
did everything come with the kit, did u need to extend your brake lines? right now im running the same tire and gear setup as you. i am thinking of going up to 38s. i dont want to change my gears again but im porbably going to have to...
thanks again
john
John,
As far as the lift kit goes I’m not sure what was included with it and what was extra, I had it installed at a local 4x4 shop. I did get extended stainless steel brake lines, and requested add-a-leafs in place blocks. As far as running 38s I would recommend changing those gears to 4.56s or possibly 4.88s. Lots of people have also shared concerns about running a tire larger than a 35 on the ttb & 8.8 combo, reliability becomes questionable from what I have read. I have only had my bronco for eight months now and by no means am an expert on all this stuff. I’m still trying to learn and read as much as possible. .
