I am new to 4-wheeling and have a '99 F350 4X4 diesel with manual 6-speed. I tried pulling my 5 ton boat up a ramp in 4-wheel low and spun the rear wheels. Another friendly boater helped pull me out. I went to my local dealer and he told me about the hub locks, but didn't tell me which direction to turn them and there are no arrows or writing on the hubs. The right wheel hub is turned to the clockwise position, and the left hub is turned to the the counterclockwise position. Can someone tell me which way is locked and which way is unlocked on each wheel? The hub ***** are black plastic. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

To lock the hubs in, you have to turn them to the right (clockwise) and to unlock them turn them to the left (counterclockwise) for both wheels. Right now you have the right hub locked in and the left one not, so even if you have it in 4x4, with the front differential all the power will go towards the hub not locked in, and won't really do anything. If you look real close to the edge of the hub, you might be able to make out some writing on it showing arrows and 'lock' and 'free' on there. On my '99 it is hard to see, but it's there. I'm not real impressed with how hard it is to tell which way is which, but I guess you'll have that. Hope that helps.
