Straight pipe in PA

I live in PA and was wondering if it is legal to have just a straight pipe on a diesel pickup truck for an exhaust. I know that the exhaust must exit either the back of the truck or the side and the new Emission Laws don't include diesel trucks, but do I still need a muffler?

Thanks,
Ryan
