My voltage gauge bounces when the truck is started, but holds steady once I start to accelerate. Also, the battery seems to have leaked some and gunked up the terminals. I have cleaned the terminals off, as well as the grounds and connections to the VR, but the gauge still bounces . The truck runs fine, I have no problems starting, but when the gauge is hopping, the lights will flicker. Is it time to replace my battery or is this an alternator/electric problem? It has been going like this for about 10 days, so I am assuming if it were the alternator, I would have had to walk home from work by now. If any of you have had this problem or have any idea what the heck i am talking about, I would love to hear from you.
Thanks a bunch,
Ian

Ian, any resolution to your voltage problems? I have a 91 Explorer and am experiencing the exact same thing. My voltage gauge bounces and my lights flicker. I took it to a shop and had the alternator checked, they said it checked out fine.
