gearing upgrade
I have a set of 3.27 gears that I am thinking of putting in my 1987 Cougar 5.0 with the 8.8 rear end. Right now it has 2.73 gears in it and I am wondering if this will make much of a difference in acceleration and what the RPM's would be @ 60 MPH. Right now with the 2.73's she runs 1400 RPM @ 60. Would the 3.27 be fine or 3.55 be better? I am not really worried about reducing my fuel economy. If anything I think it will help it because the engine seems to be lugging when it goes into overdrive. Thanks for your help.
