i just converted my 89' f-150over from a 302 efi, to a carbed 351. the 351 was from a 79 cougar with 60,xxx on it. I pulled apart the engine and put in all new gaskets and seals. Also a new roller timming chain (strait up) The intake and carb were from a 86 e-150 with a 351 h.o. I also added headman headers. I put in the engine and fired it up. It started hard and ran rather poor so i rebuild the carb. Once i installed the the rebuild carb and got all the vaccume hooked up right. it ran realy good, but could of been a little better, so i tried ajusting the floats(bad idea, first time for everything) I got them set so the fuel is just bellow the sight plugs, and it ran terribble! now no matter what i do it starts hard, wont idle, and is flooding out. after you open it up though it runs decent. but at lower rpms(wont idle) it realy runs rough. any suggestions??

There is the key right there. FI vehicles run on higher fuel pressures than carburated. Approx 30lbs of fuel pressure on the FI and maybe 6 on the carb. Get an inline fuel pressure regulator and a gauge and install it in front of the carburator and turn the pressure down some. The fuel, right now, is being forced into the carburater whether it wants it or not......
