I came home tonight (late) and noticed my kid sleeping on the floor in his room again. I spent $400 on a bunk bed and mattress that he wanted and he sleeps on the floor probably 90% of the time. The top mattress has only been slept on probably 5 times, and he has had the bed for almost a year. He likes the futon mattress or the floor better.
I find him quite often on the floor in our room when I wake up in the morning, even stepped on him the other day.
I have 5 kids and an 8 bedroom house. We use half the bedrooms. Oldest son (13) has his own room. Two daughters (12 and 9) share a room by choice. Two younger sons (4 and 5) share a room by choice. However, every single morning without fail, we go down to find the two little boys asleep in the livingroom, either on a sofa together, or one on a sofa and one curled up in a chair. Has been that way for about a year and a half now.
Im 17, have a queen size bed with all the comfy fluffy crap to make it extra soft and i sleep on the sectional couch most of the time. There are nights that i HAVE to sleep on the floor due to the pains in my back. Let the kid sleep where he is comfy, one less battle to fight.
Hang, that soulds like a huge house. How many Sq. feet if you dont mind me asking?
Our kids all slept with us till they were 2 or 3. Now the boys share a bunk bed, but they always sleep on the bottom bunk at opposite ends from each other (they don't like using the "slide" to get off the top bunk in the dark when they go to the bathroom). Anyway, sometimes they crash out on the couch watching TV and we let them sleep there too.
Well I have 3 kids, a daughter age 12 and 2 son's ages 8 & 6. Since my hubby is a truck driver he's gone a lot so the kids have a schedule on who sleeps w/Mom. They take turns based on age to sleep w/me and their Dad has devised a schedule (because he's ****) on who gets to sleep on the "Big" Couch-- no one likes the love seat, well actually only the little one fits on the love seat comforably.
The little one has a tendancy to sneak into our room and sleep on the floor when Dad is home and we've basically given up the fight. As long as they sleep and leave me alone for 6-7 hours I'm happy!
My boys also have bunkbeds. But somehow the youngest one always ends up in the floor or in the living room. After my husband leaves for work in the morning he comes to get in the bed with me. But during the summer when they are not in school they sleep in the living room. But the way I feel about it what ever makes them happy so be it. At least I get some good sleep in my king size bed.
I can actually remember a time when I went through a stage like that. I can't explain why, but I just felt more comfortable on the floor than in my bed. My folks just let it slide, and after a few months I was back in my bed. I'm sure there's some deep, psychological reason for it, but it doesn't really matter that much. It sounds like you're a little peeved that you spent big bucks on a bunk bed that he seems to not appreciate, but I don't think he's sleeping on the floor because he doesn't appreciate it, it's just a stage some kids go through. Just give it time, he'll get through it.
Outside in a tent. My two boys love sleeping in a tent in the back yard. They set up the tent at the beginning of the dry season and basically live out there until the rain comes back. Sure is nice to kick the kids outside for the summer.
In winter they sleep in their beds, but in bizarre positions, if I slept that way, I would have to be carted off to the hospital.
The oldest who always claims he is cold sleeps on his bed with no blankets or sheets etc. Instead he has the room heater blazing even in summer if he is indoors. Often the room temp seems like it is around 90+. So we really like it when they get kicked out for the summer. I tell him he and the weenine dog are definitley borthers, the proof is that they fight over who gets the best spot infront of the infrared heater.
The baby sleeps about 1/4 of the night in his crib, but always ends up in bed with us. We have IMO the best bed ever made and I think the baby thinks so too
He just snuggles right in and looks so peaceful.
oaky lets see...oldest tater tot sleeps in her bed at her house with her husband, next oldest the 19 y/o sleeps in her loft bed in her dorm at college (at least thats where her butt better be) 3/4 of the year the rest she sleeps in her bed in her little sisters room, Two 15 y/o girls share a room they have bunk beds, 12 y/o boy sleeps in his bed, other two boys 12 and 9 sleep in their bunk beds, and littlest tater tot sleeps 5 nights a week in her totally kewl custom loft bed and the other two nights she sleeps on floor. I dont ask her why, she is just a weird child. I sleep in bed with hubby, horse sleeps in barn, dogs in dog houses, cats wherever they are not supposed to be rats sleep in cage, fish in water..that about covers it. Since we are one the subject who lets their kids sleep in their own bedroom? I moved to NC and seems so many peeps here have their kids sleeping on the floor next to their bed. I freaked! I tell them once mine learned to let go of the ***** they were in their own bed (hmmmm husband is still in my bed...interesting) I ask these peeps why and they say oh they just always have. I find that very weird but it seems to be pretty common on east coast.
for the previous post---8 bedrooms? my dream come true. We have 4 and I feel so blessed. Heck were moving in with y'all!
When I was a kid, I spent the summers in a tent, or the little pop-up...
Any other time, I was in the house, in my room, usually in bed. Sometimes slept on floor, normally just fell asleep there, so that's where I stayed.
Now that I'm a bit older, I'll sleep in my recliner over anywhere else on earth. Comforable, and only room for ONE!
