When ever I drive it, the power steering fluid shoots out of the vent hole in the cap of the power steering pump cap.
I took it to my mechanic(I ain't mechanically inclined like that) and he told me it was the power steering pump...he confirmed this with the local Ford dealership.I had the pump replaced and I still have the same problem...it is not over filled, and the steering feels the same with the old pump and the new...I put about 600miles a week on the truck right now and I can't afford to get stuck while doing it...what else could it be?
As a side note...I do mainly highway driving and it is most noticable after running the truck for a while (hr)...but when I had the truck off and turn the steering wheel, it shoots out like a fountain...
Someone (non-mechanic) told me it was because of the high speed driving...70-75
My 92 and my old 91 Explorers both squirted fluid out of the vent hole when you turned the wheel while the engine was off. Don't turn the steering wheel with the engine off.
