timing queston

I have a 390 in a 3/4 ton truck. Its bored 30 over, has a edlbrock rpm performer with a 600 holly. A rv cam, the heads are 68aeh that have been ported and the combustion chambers cleaned up,and an automatic trans. What rpm should the mechanical advance start to come in and what rpm should it all be in. And how much total should it have? And how much vacume advance would you put in?

i would have it start as soon as your off idle, so 1000 would be ok to start. try to have it all in by around 3000-3300 rpm's.

I used the 13 degree advance slot,two light springs and checked it with a tach. Then bent the tabs that hold the springs till I got the advance to start at 1000. Set the initial at 10 and it runs a lot better, thanks for the advice!
