My friend has a 94 Explorer with 4.0L (DIS), his check engine light has been coming on occasionally, and it does seem to sound to run a little rough when doing this. I've come up with the codes 12 (idle cannot be raised), 14 (PIP signal loss), and 214 (cylinder ID sensor failure).
I'm not concerned about the 12, but 14 and 214 are very related, and lead me to the crank sensor. Now my question is...has anyone else come across this? Has anyone changed the Crank Sensor? Easy, hard...etc...? I work at a Dodge dealer, and have done all this stuff on those, but I want to be able to get this done for him without taking up too much of my time.
Any help or input will be appreciated, thanks guys!
Gary
You know, our 94 has been doing that too, but it only does it when we accelerate or been driving at speeds higher than 50 for a while. I am taking it to Autozone this morning to get checked.
Also I have a 98 Contour I am having tranny probs with. I am discussing that with the Contour Enth. Group already, seems my torque converter clutch may need replacing.
