rip off?
rip off?
I am reaching 30,000 miles and one of the services they offer is fuel injector cleaner for 150 bucks, it reads they add a cleaner to clean the injectors, but I do that every 3,000 miles with a 8 dollar bottle of injector cleaner, so should I get this service done? I feel its a rip off for me to give them 150 bucks to put probably a 10 dollar bottle of fuel injector cleaner in there.
The difference between the stuf you buy at 7-11 and the stuf that the dealer uses, is the stuf the dealer uses is directly hooked to the fuel rail. The motor is then started and ran off the injector can, untill all the cleaner is used up and the motor dies. The stuf you buy will cinda help to keep stuf clean, but the dealers stuf will clean the injectors so that there is not one bit of build up on them.

30,000 miles you dont really need the injector service to me thats a waste of money, i use the BG PRODUCTS Fuel Injection Cleaner every other oil change and it works fine, something like that will be good as long as you keep up with you fuel filter replacement and correct gas!
Good Luck!

Chevron Techroline
I'm a big proponent of Chevron Techroline. I ran the additive through my Porsche at 130,000 miles (after I had just bought it) and it really helped. I now have 230,000 on the engine and the injectors still work great.
If you run Chevron gasoline, they put the Techroline right in the gas but at a much lower rate. Most gas providers run a detergent in their gas, but I found the Chevron Techroline to be the best. After running their gas through five different motors with fuel injectors, I've not had an injector stick on me yet. In fact, one motor, a small turbo charged four banger, seems to get sticking injectors any time more than one tank of gas is run without Chevron Supreme.
So now my Explorer gets mostly Chevron gas (but only regular) and I have not had any injector problems after 76,000 miles.
