Fuel additive injector cleaner?

Hey y'all.

So, the guy I bought my truck from told me that when he had it serviced once, the mechanic told him that he should run a bottle of fuel additive injector cleaner every third time he filled up. That seems a bit much to me, but what do you with more experience in these matters say? I want my truck to last and all, but I don't want to waste a bunch of money on unnecessary stuff.

Thanks!

That's more like what I was thinking. Something like a bottle of Marvel every 1,000 miles, or so. So I guess that's what I'll do!

Marvel /Berrymans great but BG best in my opinon

Marvel mystery oil is good, I've used Berrymans B-12 Chemtool (for the price EXCELLENT) about once per 4 months but PREFER to use BG 44K (not cheap get it on Amazon) at least once per year. In my opinion it sure made a significant improvement in the throttle response and sounds like the injectors are quieter. I've noticed a lower rpm on 40-60 mph driving which has translated to better MPG, just pour straight into gas tank and I noticed within 2 min a noticeable quieter engine 'purring'. Also I used the pre oil change additive BG ERP (engine restoration performance) which seems to help loosen and seriously clean the oil gunk internally. Follow the instructions for both BG products and you should see improved performance as I have on my 2010 Sport Trac 4.6L V8 with 88K. Next up the trans and diffs get their treatment.

Using a "Top Tier" gas works best.
