1997 Ford Explorer, Tail Lights

I was wondering if the tail lights form a 98-01 explorer would fit on a 95-97 explorer.

i doint think so cuz they are shaped diffrent than the 95-97 you could have a body shop cut up ur rear end and get them to fit i have wanted to do the same thing on my 97 xlt cuz iv wanted to put carbon fiber tail lights but they doint make them for the 95-97 im geussing ur tryin to do the same??

They will not fit. The rear hatch has a totally different curve to it. They will bolt in, but when you close the hatch, the lights stick out past your 95-97 hatch.

Hey, thanks guys. I went to A&A auto and they said they could special order me a pair of APC carbon firber lights and they would only be $110. Ill let you know how it turns out.

My wife bought some Altezza lights for me last year for X-Mas. She thought they were the same, but they are not. Don't waste your money trying, unless you are going to try and put a 98+ hatch on your 95-97 just so the lights will fit.

Check [link:www.clearlights.com|Clearlight.com] . They have the Altezza's for the 95-97 on preorder. Altezza is waiting on DOT approval before they can release them.

How about changing the hatch to a 95 X using a 98 X hatch.

Would this make the 98 tails fit the 95 with the 98 hatch?

I don't know about the angles on the rear of each one. Just about everything else (besides engine components and some electrical) are the same, so they may bolt up. I haven't talked to anyone who has tried it....
