The other day I was browsing and came across this on a Ford site. This is for you who are not getting the mileage you think you should. Should be interesting to hear from those of you who used to own a 7.3.

I can only find 8% and 10% from any Ford document. I have seen a press release that says 8% and this document saying 10%. Anything more than that must be Internet legend, unless someone can come up with an actual reference that isn't "I heard from this guy that knows ...." But then, I have a blue haze around my head....

Hand that to your dealer!
doesnt that constitute untrue advertisement? i think they really should have to back that up.
But, just to play the devil's advocate for a sec. Who's to say what the mpg 7.3 they compared that 10% to? Ford just may say they calculated an average of 15 mpg on the 7.3. The documentation of THAT is what I'd like to see.
In Troutdale, just east of Portland on I-84, at a Flying J I just paid $1.879. And I pumped my own. Their service stinks. It's a secret though. At the SpaceAge at the Hermiston exit on I-84 in Eastern Or., it was $1.949 last Thursday. Both are truckstops with seperate pumps for us kewl guys. Are you coming up through Salt Lake onto I-84?
But, by law you cannnot pump your own. So far no one has hassled me to finish off the topping of the tank. I actually put 29 gallons in the other day!! (See Shell thread)

Do you have a link to that article, about the mpgs, have been told by the ford rep that ford doesnt consider mpgs problems on the superduty, because there are no posted mpg numbers.

Yes I am coming through SL and then Boise and up and around down to Canby, seems the easy way to go. I sure do not like the someone else pump the fuel thing. I do Flying J's in the truck lanes not the car stuff. Do they do it for the truckers also?
I guess I will just stand there and top it off slow; I have the 44 gallon, for me it needs to be topped off… a real stickler I am on that. Wonder if the cost will come down any more.
Here's a strange one concerning topping off the tank--when we bought our 03 250 psd were told by the salesman that topping the fuel tank off to the very top would run the PCM crazy and to only fill it to "automatic" shutoff (where the pump first shuts itself off". Anyone ever heard this crazy notion--I can't tell any difference topped off or "automatic shutoff"

Sounds like BS to me. With the foam created by diesel fillling if you quit filling at the first shutoff of the pump, you would only have 3/4 tank. How it would drive the PCM crazy is behond me.

Key word "salesmen" not really their job to understand the nuances of the 6.0
