Never considered jumping ship to Dodge. I have talked to a lot of owners of diesel light trucks. Despite what you read on this and other forums, this engine does not have the problems one would be led to believe by reading on the Internet. Those of us who spend time on these forums, IMO, represent a small percentage of the total ownership. There are those who post negative issues who claim the problems are epidemic with the 6.0 when there is no evidence to support it. Dodge and other competitors have similar issues. Any mass produced product is going to have manufacturing related problems from time to time.

I think that you have a blue haze surrounding your head, but you are correct, there are no hard numbers that really tell us how the 6.0 is doing one way or the other.

Of course, that means that you cannot back up your positive statement any better than anyone else can back up their negative statement.

As one OEM vendor has stated, a 5% warranty repair rate on a part sends the Big 3 into orbit, potentially causing the vendor to lose business.

So who knows what the defect rate on the 6.0 really is. But 5% rate is unacceptable (to Ford) and a 10% rate is very, very high.

Since you started out with "I think", I'll let it slide. But I went back to my post and reread it. I dd not write something like "I love my truck!" or "Ford trucks rock!" or some other overly emotional response. I simply answered the question. I have had some problems with mine that were fixed to my satisfaction. I have talked to other 6.0 owners when I see them in parking lots and gas stations. I always ask how they like it and had they had any problems. The answer has always been positive. Either no problems or minor issues that the dealer fixed. I have friends and neighbors with the other trucks. They like theirs. Us humans tend to think positively of the decisions we make.

So tell me what makes you think my post qualifies me for having a blue haze. I think this is going to be a "half empty, half full".

I'm not currently a diesel owner, but my business partner and I have been seriously considering the 6.0 for some time now; we've not yet made the decision to buy.

Your comments are interesting and mirror my own experience. Over the past year I've made a point of talking to as many 6.0 owners as I can. I've talked to several dozen so far, and NOT ONE has had (or was willing to admit to) having any problems with their 6.0. Not very scientific but it works for me.

Also, when doing interstate driving I've started to look at what kind of trucks are pulling the 5th wheels, horse trailers, work trailers and such - overwhelmingly they are Ford diesels - and a lot are 6.0's. I've had a bunch of 6.0's pulling trailers pass me doing at least 80+ mph - never seen one pulled over broken down, either.

Just my observations.

I'm driving my second 6.0 Ford and have had no problems in 50,000 miles (total, both trucks). My 04 doesn't get quite the fuel mileage of the 03; but overall, I am very satisfied with my 6.0.

I would never even consider any other diesel. Just remember when you say "all these problems" you are only reading posts from those who did have problems you are not hearing from the silent and vast majority who never had any problems. I have not driven the dodge but I have driven a brand new chevy with the new diesel LS6 I think they call it and trust me it might be a good truck but it does not run anything like my 6.0 PSD!!!!

Edmunds.com says the Ford diesel is the best (6.0). I'd love to have one, but what do you do when you just bought a 2003 5.4 ten months ago?

We know you are the No.1 Ford hater that visits this forum. Always trying to badmouth Ford and the 6.0. I still haven't decided whether you work for Dodge or Chevy or just an ignorant, frustrated person with nothing better to do in your life except attack others. I have never seen you post anything Positive. Is your life that bad?
