In fact, if I am critical of the 6.0, it is because of my experience with the 7.3. Both of mine are absolutely flawless. My '99 never saw the dealer in 4-1/2 years except for some sort of seatbelt bolt recall. My '03 doesn't have many miles, but it too is perfect.
I see a lot of posted regarding the 6.0 describing stalling, erratic idle, surging, drips, dead pedal, poor A/C, non-functional cruise control etc. as being "minor" and "normal" for a diesel and "to be expected" in the first year of production. While I agree that these may be minor annoyances, they are not normal for a diesel. Both my PSDs were/are dry as a bone. Start first time, every time. No burps. No stumbles. Idle smooth as silk (if a bit loud). Never, ever stalled. I have a 9 year old diesel tractor that is also bone dry and only stalled one time when I ran it out of fuel. My May '98-built '99 7.3 was not a new engine, but it was the 1st year production of a substantially reworked 7.3. I never had any trouble with it, although Ford did change quite a few things on later 7.3s.
Had my 7.3s given me the problems that I have seen other post about, perhaps the hiccups with the 6.0 would not seem that strange to me. But I know how good and trouble-free IH and Ford can build a diesel, and I expect better than what they delivered on the 6.0 and I think that you should too.
On Edit - OK, I did remember one flaw in my '99, if the tranny kicked down to 3rd gear while cruise control was on, it would hold 3rd gear far too long. Never liked to upshift back into 4th. I understand that there was a reflash to fix this, but as I never took the truck in, I never found out about the reflash. I just kicked it out of cruise, let the trasnny upshift, then hit resume.
You know that all you want is an argument. That is the only thing you live for. You and Jeb both are always trying to start an argument where there is none. I don't understand. I guess that complaining about you and Jeb and your attitudes will give me about as much fun as you are having,
I don't see it as a question of arguing. I have an opinion that despite what you think, corresponds in many ways to your own. I also disagree with you on several points. I have no trouble with a difference in opinion, and your opinion is just as valid as mine.
I will stand up for my opinion and will not be bullied into backing down, changing my opinion or moving on to some other forum. If this is your definition of argument, then yes, I guess that I just like to argue.
Hey sorry guys I didnt mean to start any trouble here. Im just as guilty as anybody. I guess I have that dreaded blue haze over my head too. I think that comment started it all here. Hey its all right to agree or disagree. But that comment is probably offensve to us ford guys. It might be a good idea to leave those kind of comments out off these debates at least so we can get along.

No problem. But if you are going to buy a Ford no matter what, then why are you asking these questions?
Hey guys I know a lot of you that are in this forum have a 6.0 or are thinking about getting one. Hey have you guys said Geez these 6.0 problems Im going to Dodge. Or are you saying no way I wouldnt get close to a dodge. If you have had problems are you saying Im giving up on Ford going to Dodge or GM. So what do you think guys think?. Thanks for any replies.
If you really want to know what I think, and if you really are thankful for all replies, then any negative comments are just as valid as the positive ones.
If you look over my posts (some 1500 here and almost 5000 at ford-trucks.com) you will note that very rarely, if ever, have a said anything negative to a person who has made up his mind to get a 6.0. I do not respond to questions such as "Just ordered my new 6.0, what do you think?".
On the other hand, when someone (like you) suggests that they are sitting on the fence and want honest opinions, I give it to them. I usually also suggest that they read the uncountable number of posts on the 6.0 and make up their own mind.
So, if you are a tried and true Ford guy, that's great. Buy a Ford. But I suggest that you not post questions such "Should I buy the Dodge" when you don't really want to hear the answer and have absolutely no intention of even considering anything other than a Ford.
Hey jschira I cant argue with your post there. I want to here the good and bad about evry make and model. Yes the 6.0 has had issues with it some serious ones at that. I just want to here everyones opinion. You stated yours and made some excellent points. Im not going to insult anybody saying things such as having a blue haze over your head. Thats insulting peoples judgements. Making them think that there comments dont mean much. Can we be friends here I hope. Hey I consider you a friend. You dont beat around the bush you get to the point.
We know you are the No.1 Ford hater that visits this forum. Always trying to badmouth Ford and the 6.0. I still haven't decided whether you work for Dodge or Chevy or just an ignorant, frustrated person with nothing better to do in your life except attack others. I have never seen you post anything Positive. Is your life that bad?
Tim, why can Choctaw Bob make a personal attack like this and not get moderated? It certainly appears to me that the moderator of this forum plays favorites.

OK. Here is my advice.
Drive both and buy the one that you like the best.
Drive both and buy the one that you like the best.
Simple, huh?
I agree with Jschira. drive both and drive what you like best.
I don't agree, however, that Ford service sucks as was stated in an earlier post because that has never been the case for me.
Also, I have stated this before in another thread but my buddy with the 2003 CC Dodge just blew his second turbo and has been in the shop for a week. I guess it really boils down to where you take your vehicle to get fixed rather than a blanket statement of all Ford Service sucks when that is not realistic.
It is too bad that Jschira feels the way he does about Ford and since he does not have a 6.0, maybe he should not comment on how they run but thank you for the information that the particular dealer you took your truck to. If I am ever in your area with my Ford (doubtful) I will try to stay away from that dealer, in the slim chance I break down.

I never said Ford service, I said Ford Customer Service. I have contacted Dearborn on several occasions with complaints about my Ford products and they have never returned my emails or phone calls.
Now, I compare this with Lexus, who sent me $25 after I had to have some warranty work and Caddy, who replaced all 4 of my tires (at 15,000 miles) because they had the wrong alignment specs and my tires showed signs uneven wear. Both of these actions were taken without me asking. The check from Lexus just came in the mail with an apology card. The Caddy dealer called me up to apologize that he had to keep the car an extra day because he had ordered in new tires and couldn't install them until the next day.
Anyway, if you are driving through town and need some service, stay away from Texan Ford on I-20 at Cooper St. Keep driving down I-20 another 6-7 miles to Nichols Ford at I-20 and Campus Drive.
