Well, I'm all for it. I had a 55 Chevy Bel Air 2-door hardtop a few years back, and I had to sell it to pay some bills, but I had the idea of putting a 351C in it, just to watch the faces of the Chevy guys when I popped the hood. Wish I'd done it. I try not to be down on other makes, but it's hard when you get around someone so narrow-minded that your Ford is nothing but junk to them, no matter what and they have to tell you about it endlessly. It seems to go that way more often than the other, what is it with that, are Chevy guys really that insecure or jealous that they just have to spout off whenever they find out that you're a Ford guy? When I was racing, I was the lone Ford in a field of Chevys. I remember one guy coming in to the shop I worked at and asking me about the car I was building, and what engine I was running. When I told him, "A 302" He started hollering at me like I'd insulted him and said, "You'll never get that little 302 to keep up with those 350 Chevys!" Opening night I opened a few eyes as just how well a Ford with a 302 WOULD keep up with those 350 Chevys. I guess I have just always rooted for the underdog, so I've preferred Fords for many years. Sorry if I've gone on about this...just my .05. (Adjusted for inflation!) -TD
lol guys, y'all crack me up...
There are arrogant snobs in every group out there, Ford, Chev, Dodge, imposts, etc etc. Who cares? why let em wreck it for everyone else? I like a good argument with soem kid who thinks his car is the be all and end all of everything, but not everyone is like that. The majority of domestic car/truck lovers can appriciate any decent domestic car out there, be it chev, ford or dodge! I am a Chevy guy, but i went out and bought a Ford, now i have experience in two! I may be gettin a job at a dodge dealership! who cares? You will even find a decent guy or two in the import crowd, believe it or not. Most car guys are decent, and if they aren't, they arent car guys!
i agree with benwantland: I love it when me and my buddies are together. the majority IS 88-98 Chevy/GMC trucks, but there are ford trucks, the odd dodge, a few caviliers, a 71 olds, a 75 Hornet, and NO RICE!
and people put chevy engines (350s) in cars cuz they are cheap, reliable and fit anywhere. checkout out how much it is to get parts for some of these old ford and dodge engines? yea. exactly. people dont do it to make y'all mad, they do it so they car enjoy and drive there car.
You are doin it to **** people off. I think that to be rude and arrogant. If ya want to, giv'er, but if you want to follow what you're saying, ford in ford, put a 350 in it! hell, want to be different? find a buick 3.8l turbocharged V6 out of a Grand National and shock some people! but that would be a buick in a Chevy and y'all might get mad now eh? lmao jeeeez...

Actually, my main goal isnt to make people mad...I just want to do it for fun. If it makes the Chevy guys mad, so be it. My biggest reason for doing this is because I have a spare motor and transmission, and a free dime-a-dozen s10. Why have just another s10, when I can have an oddity. That is me...I like to be different.
Other then that I agree with what you said. One thing that I said is I do not dislike any make, and that includes ricers. I havent judged anybody here, so please don't judge me. If I gave the wrong impression about what my intentions were, then excuse me. This was all started in fun, not to make people over-critical. If you read everything I wrote in this thread, you might see that. In the same sense that I appreciate and respect other's opinions, and their right to that opinion, I would limit my own personal opinions to less then critical of others views/likes/dislikes. Thanks for your positive comments and input.

No Problem.
Sorry if I got a little wound up in my last post, its not so much you, but others that get mad when people drop a 350 in there ford or dodge so they can drive it, instead of waiting another year so they can afford to rebuild a rarer engine. You want to drop that engine/tranny into your truck, giv'er! whatever floats your boat! Have fun, don't mind me lol (i'd still go with a v8 tho )

Cool deal Stingray...no sweat from my end. I may have been a little overwound myself, but some of those burrs dug deep. Like I said, I agreed with most everything you did say. If it wasn't really directed at me, then I owe you an apology as well. I think the problem is that we are thinking alike, so we got confused, lol. As for the v8....who knows, maybe a 350 would sit nice in my old 86 Cougar!
Theres a lot of good points made here-but I feel that the brands are ok, they all have their good and bad points. What I really hate are the arrogant ******. I'm all Ford, wont have anything else, but I dont mind hanging out or talking about other stuff unless the other people get preachy. I do mud racing and all of the other competitors are pretty cool no matter what their brand preference is but it seems to me that it's the people that have never built or raced anything in their lives and never will that are the worst. Got a friend thats heavy into GM's, he gives me some flak but its all good natured, but his teenage son is really getting on my nerves-he's constantly on my case. I finally told him that when he has as many trophies as I do, then he can give me his opinion on what to drive. But back to the point- do the swap definitely -if someone gets really bitchy about it tell them to GET A LIFE. found a 57 chevy car that had been made into a mud racer recently, engine was located in the rear and was locked up due to being retired and left at the mercy of the weather. Me and another guy contemplated buying it and putting a 460 in it to irk chevy purists, of course I could only stand having a chevy body for so long and it would eventually got some ford sheetmetal but it would be fun for a while.
I agree, as long as it's all in fun that's the main thing. When I was a kid, my dad and a friend of his had the Ford-Chevy rivalry thing going, so that was my first exposure to it. My dad has gone out and bought GM, and even had some Dodges- '56 Chrysler New Yorker Hemi and '37 Dodge sedan come to mind, among many others. I've had 2 Chevys, loved my '55 and would have another with a Chevy or a Ford engine. I had a '67 Chevy 4x4 with a 327, my dad had a '77 Chevy 4x4 with a 400 and later a '72 4x2. We had nothing but trouble with those trucks, and I would not own another. But I enjoy some good-natured rivalry, as long as it stays good-natured. When it gets mean-spirited, then I get my hackles up. Heck, I even own a lot of old British iron and 1 older Jap car, an '84 Nisaan 200SX turbo. I like things that run hard and look cool, no matter where they're built. But that ricer-boy thing that's all the rage lately makes me want to blow chunks. It's all about being flashy and noisy without any real emphasis on performance. Well, 'nough said. I'm probably going to get some flak for admitting that I own a Japanese car and actually like the thing, but oh well, I can take it! (I have thought about putting a 5.0 in it as the original engine's getting a little tired after 200,000 hard turbo miles!) -TD
