John, I have a 12K double axle flat bed (2-5/16") and a 20K tri axle flat bed (pintle and lunette) that I haul antique tractors with and also some light construction. My runs, although often, never exceed 150 miles one way. Most are 50 mile one way runs. These flat beds, in most cases, allow me to put the weight where I want it. I have two F250's (old and new), plus I am always borrowing or lending trailers, which would really mess with the WD situation. I do not have a camper trailer, where i see most WD's used, and probably for a good reason. To answer your second question, no, I have never used a WD setup. I better not try it, I might like it and have to eat all of my words. Philip.
