I have a #19 on my door sticker for axcel.
I have a couple questions.
I looked this up and so I have 3:55, right? I want to put some 33" on but I don't want to stress anything either. Will these work okay or should I stay with a smaller tire?
And the last question is; in the code book it says it is not limited slip. Does this mean that my rear wheels are locked, like it has a locker?
Thanx, Tim
Well, according to my 90 250 door tag, I've got a 355 and I'm running with 33x12.50x16.5 tires. it shopuld work, but if not, somebody else on here will tell you.
No, a non-limited-slip rear axle means that ONLY ONE tire per axle will spin at a time. It'll be the one which spins the easiest (i.e. the one that loses traction easiest) that spins, whether it be right or left. This is why LS axles are preferred; they work in reverse and give the spin to the tire with the MOST traction (I think). At least that's the way it works in the rear, but I'm not too sure about the front. Hope this helps.
I have 19 mine is also 3.55 open rear end, but you might wanna check the tag thats on the rear end cover. Never know someone might've changed it but probabally not since it's a 3.55 it sounds like your truck is 4wd cause you wanna go with the 33's and to swap gears you'd have to swap front and rear so they match. BTW which engine and tranny do you have?
302, M5od. I checked the tag, but it was just a series of numbers and I didn't have anything to crossreference them with.
I do know that I'm at 2500 rpms going 75mph. By listening to the motor it sounds a little high, but I'm not familiar with fords. Normal rpms is around 2300, at least that is what my ear tells me. wich is about 70 mph.

the 33's should be fine with a 302, 35's would probabally bog a little if the engine is stock. You could open up the exhaust to get more power. It depends on how you drive and if you take it off road or not but you should be fine.
Yea, I have been thinking about some power inhancers like a cat back and/or a chip. I do go off raod so I think the air filters like K&N are out.
Even with added power I doubt I would go bigger than 33's
To me there is a balance between the amount of lift, tire size and length of truck/wheel base. If it gets out of balance in any one area then it looks "goofy" to me.
lol those are some good points... I have a 95 f150 flare side 4x4 w/ 300, m50d and I just have 31x10.50 on factory 15x7 aluminum rims on it but then everything is stock. I plan on opening up my exhaust and dropping in k&n filter sometime. I should be saving my money for a zf tranny if my mazda ever craps out on me.
