OK you tell me the hell U2's line "if the sky will crack , there must be some way back" is all about , and a free pint is your's ( terms and conditions apply!) .
Ok, once upon a time a while back there was this something tv show, book, bthoom, (beats the......out of me) Anyway, I seem to remember Dave Barry (sp) in on this. Song lyrics we all got WRONG.
--"...'scuse me while I kiss this guy....." (Purple Haze)
--"....there's a bathroom on the right...." (Bad Moon Rising)
--"....walking in your winter underware...." (Winter Wonderland)
And a host of others.
Personally, I like to pervert Beatles lyrics and others, and particularly enjoy a little Weird Al. ("....Mamamamyyyyy Balogna.....")
OK King Triton,
Are you ready for this one about Pink Floyd? If memory serves me correctly it seems that Pink (Roger Waters) had an overbearing mother and was left fatherless from the war. His mother sent him off to a boarding school like alot of mothers sent their young also during this time. This was a "brick" in his wall.
His wall was what he built up to keep out all the hurts. As he was growing, more "bricks" went into the wall. Remember the schoolmaster? Pretty soon his wall was so high that he couldn't escape from it.
Whether Roger was Pink I'm really not sure but it was a good story hidden in an album. Also watching the movie The Wall was abit of help in visualizing the lyrics.
Maybe a little different, but as a Vietnam vet, I like:
"To fallen soldiers that are seen,
Where the rockets fly or bullets ring,
Our broken brothers let us bring,
To the mansions of the Lord.
"No more weeping of our fight,
No rest leading through the night,
Trust in Thy embrace Eternal Light,
In the mansions of the Lord.
"Where no mothers cry and no children weep,
We will stand and guard though the angels sleep,
All through the ages safely keep,
The mansions of the Lord."
