has anyone with these a/c problems had their trucks checked and/or fixed at the dealers. (if so, what are they saying?) i have the manual a/c system on my '04- i made a temp check at the vent yesterday with a thermometer in center vent, it was running about 45-47 degs, with controls on max a/c, max cool and blower on 2nd highest. i talked with a technician at the dealer this morning, he said ideally it should be at 42 degs. and to bring it in for a check if i would like. i forgot to ask if this 42 degs at vent is supposed to be always consistent no matter what the ambient temp is. so if anybody else has some dealer feedback or fixes, i'm listening.l
but I still notice that it is cycling odd...gets cold...then barely cool...then cold. Especially noticable at idle when it's 100+ outside.
I think you hit the nail on the head... when the truck is not moving, or at idle, not enough air is being drawn across the condenser and the cabin air gets noticably warmer. I really notice it here in Phx becuase it's usually 106+ outside every day. But as soon as I start moving again, it get cold quickly.
I haven't been able to determine if this is a design flaw on the placement of the condenser or something that can be fixed with a part exchange.
I had the same problem... mine had no problem blowing out cool air....just no cold air. took it to the dealer and it took about a week for them to fix it because of the product being out of stock. But now it is almost too cold.
i'm just wondering what happened to the posts by homerwinslow, fredjeep, myself and others about humidity & a/c. seems like they disappeared over the weekend. there was some good info in these posts but maybe someone didn't like them for some reason?
There is one item that is not in the a/c check for checking the outlet temp.
The engine needs to be at 1500 RPM not idle.If the outside temp is over 90 degrees the truck needs to be moving or a fan needs to be placed in front of the grill before checking the outlet temp.
