AC Problem!

Any one have any problems with the ac. One day it is ice cold then the next day it is just cool like if the fan is on. Took it to the dealer and they say nothing is wrong with it. <!Bull****!!> Its only 90 degrees in st louis so far and the ac doesnt cut it now, what happens when its 110 outside??? Ford is realy makeing me mad!!

I kno what you mean. When im not using the 2-60 AC, the truck AC will be freezing cold, then luke warm, then freezing cold again. My truck never seems to cool down.

My truck does the same thing. There is a TSB out for defective o-rings on the top/bottom of the condenser so you might have lost some of your charge. These new F150's must have big problems with air in the a/c lines because I had to bring my truck back to the dealer 4 times with poor ac performance. They finally left my truck on a vacuum for over an hour and charged it and it seemed to fix the problem but I still notice that it is cycling odd...gets cold...then barely cool...then cold. Especially noticable at idle when it's 100+ outside. It sucks you buy a 35K truck and it cools worse than a geo metro. Good luck and keep bugging your dealer until they get it right.

drove my '04 stx with very low miles today & made a good overall check of ac & controls. i'm really not impressed & only about 85 degs at the time. i found that to get the cool air i had to have it on highest blower speed (#4) and max ac w/temp control also max.- and this didn't seem real frigid. later i called the dealer to see what temps they use when checking these units to make their assesment. the service rep said to check air temp at outlet with thermometer in. running contol on max ac, blower on #2 setting and temp control on max cool--the temperature should read 40-50 degs. i going to do this soon so i'll know for sure. maybe this will help some of you. let me know what you find or what you else you know.

Me too! I have mine on max A/C and still the air is barely cooled. Just another thing to add to the list of repairs.

I live in south Alabama and it has been very hot here except for this week which has been all rain. A couple of week ago, I drove to Mexico where it got as hot as 114. My 04 SuperCrew 150 AC performed perfectly. Even in Mexico, within a few minutes of getting in the truck, it would be cool. Not once did I ever think it was not cooling well. In fact, I often find my self tuning it down because I am chilly and I am a hot natured guy.

I say these things not to make you feel bad about your trucks but to encourage you by knowing it can be made right. You should be able to get the problems resolved and I would insist on getting it right. Best of luck to you.

Unhappy

I'm taking my 2004 SuperCrew to Bahrain next month for two years (that's the Navy for you...) and I was wondering how your engine cooling system held up in Mexico? Did you notice the engine temp much higher when it was 114? I'm pretty concerned about the summer overthere, especially since there wont be a Ford dealership nearby.

Boko- If you are concerned, you can add a electric fan which cool a lot better and change the thermostat out for a diffefent one that kicks in sooner. That will help with keeping the engine cool.

I hope this AC issue is fixed for 2005 - that's when I'm buying.

You'd think that with the GAZILLION F150s sold each year down here in Hades....er, Texas, fixing the AC would be a top priority.

If you have the Auto Climate Control, set it to 60 degrees...that makes it as cold as it can be...otherwise it takes the difference between the outside temperature and the desired temperature and calculates what temperature to send out the vents

use the auto mode on the A/C...it will freeze you out...thought something was wrong with my A/C until I figured out the auto mode...just hit the auto button and set the temp...your truck will do the rest.

I think the AC is the ONE problem that I am experiencing so far. I have had the truck for just over 2 weeks and it certainly does not seem to get as cold now as when I bought it. Seems that some of the charge has evacuated. On day 1 it was on par with my Mitsubishi...20 seconds of MAX ac with the back of your hand by the vents would literally chill your fingers. Now it's not even close. Still cold air coming out but NOWHERE near as cold. Getting hot here in So Cal so sounds like I need a trip to the shop.
