While I love the new driveability and performance of all the new mods I've made recently I do have one concern. I haven't pulled anything with it since the mods. I've read a great deal on turbo stall and surging. My rig is a 37' King of the Road 5th wheel and weighs in 12,900 empty. Not much more loaded though. Now the question is, will my truck chug and choke running in tow mode on my Bully Dog? I know you wonder why not just hook up and see. We have it set up at an RV park and are using it now.
Are any of you using the ATS ported housing or TAG or TAG2 and your opinions of each.
Thank you Seniors, Juniors, and New users alike. This is a great place to learn.
Yep, I'm using both the wicked wheel and the ATS housing. They are great in combo although the housing alone will take care of the surge. It's a pretty easy install too.
I'm assuming you have gauges right? If not you really need to get a pyro and boost guage before you tow. Even the "light" chips can get you into dangerous EGT's pretty easily when pulling. A boost guage will also show you the surge. You';ll see the needle flutter when you let off the pedal.
Yep, I'm exhausted (hmm..) and gauged. With the exception of a few blasts onto the freeway in extreme mode the temps seldom hover past 650. The highest I've seen was 1100 but that was at 23-24 lbs. I was looking into the Zoodad last night and will make that mod this weekend. I have found out that I need to install the relief valve in the map line as in extreme you can trip the SES at will.
For those that haven't actually seen the Zoodad, I found this link last night.

I'm about to have an ATS and wicked wheel also..How do you like it and what changes have you seen?

From all that I've seen here and other forums, I think you might be better off running the stock impeller with the ATS housing. Seems the wicked wheel/switzer impeller is best as a surge fix with just the stock housing.

The problem is that I purchased both together and I want to do both at the same time.I don't want to throw away $65 , then again I don't want something that is so excesivly loud that I can't stand it. If it's overkill for surg but still gives me better than stock gains then I'll do it...Would be nice to know someone here in town that had that set up to see, but you say wicked wheel in thornton where I live and people think I'm getting new rims.. depending how far south in thornton you are...

The only significant change I've seen is the sound increase and the total elimination of surge. Some say it'll spool slower but I honestly haven't seen that. Of course with my chip I run stock,50, 75 Tow and 140 so the turbo responds to each differently.
