ABS rings
I took of the ABS rings, cleaned them and installed them on the new rotors, and now when I drive, the ABS kicks in when I am nearing dead stop. Anyone else have this problem?
However, there were a few things the Manual mentioned that are doable:
Raise the vehicle on a hoist.
CAUTION: Examine the anti-lock brake sensor indicator carefully with good light. Failure to detect defects in the anti-lock brake sensor indicator will lead to unnecessary component replacement.
Inspect the anti-lock brake sensor indicator for damaged and/or missing teeth. Rotate the wheel to ensure all teeth are checked.
Inspect the anti-lock brake sensor mounting for looseness. Inspect the sensor for debris on the rear axle housing mounting boss or on the speed sensor mounting flange. Clean as necessary.
Is the anti-lock brake sensor indicator OK?
Yes
GO to C3.
No
If the anti-lock brake sensor indicator is missing or damaged, REPLACE the anti-lock brake sensor indicator.
If the sensor is loose, TIGHTEN the speed sensor bolt to specification (9-10 lb/ft FRONT, 25-29 lb/ft REAR).
If debris is found (rear), REMOVE debris.
C3 CHECK ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SENSOR INDICATOR AIR GAP
Remove the suspect anti-lock brake sensor.
Inspect and clean anti-lock brake sensor mounting plate for any metal flash or debris.
Remount the suspect anti-lock brake sensor.
NOTE: Feeler gauges can be mounted to a welding rod and inserted between the vanes of the front disc brake hub and rotor to measure air gap precisely.
Measure the air gap between the anti-lock brake sensor and the anti-lock brake sensor indicator teeth. Repeat in at least two more wheel positions.
Is the gap consistent and less than 1.78 mm (0.070 in)?
Yes
If front anti-lock brake sensor, REPLACE the anti-lock brake sensor.
No
If the air gap is too large. REPLACE anti-lock brake sensor indicator.
If the air gap is inconsistent. GO to C6.
C6 RESOLVE INCONSISTENT AIR GAP CONCERN
Remove suspect front disc brake hub and rotors;
Verify the anti-lock brake sensor indicator is mounted straight and fully onto the hub.
Install the suspect front disc brake hub and rotor.
Yes
GO to C7 (Redo Diagnostic Test).
No
REPLACE anti-lock brake sensor indicator.
TEST the system for normal operation.
