ABS code 41,42,75,76 after swapping front rotors, hubs, and bearings
Did all the following...
I replaced my front bearings, manual hubs, and rotors. I pulled the ABS gear off of the old rotor and installed it onto the new rotors.
Road test tripped the ABS light. Pulling codes resulted in code 41 and 42. Stating that there was an issue with the ABS gear on both rotors. I pulled everything off again and pulled the rings back off, and re-mounted them flush with the center of the rotor it is pressed in on. The first time I pressed these rings ALL the way down.
Again, road test resulted in code 41,42,75 and 76 now.
Any ideas?? I cleaned the ABS rings with parts cleaner. They were really gucked up.

The gear doesnt seem obviously broken.
I checked more into the service manual, and it says that the gear must be .070" away from the sensor on both side and both sides must be the same distance from the gear to the sensor.
Guess ill need to check the gap. I know if the gear is pressed all the way down, it's much more that .070" from the sensor.

no. I replaced the calipers about a year ago and bleed them then. never had the ABS codes until i swapped out the bearings, rotors, brakes pads, and manual hubs.
Those codes mean all the same thing. mainly either the ABS gear is missing teeth on it, the gap between the sensor is either too larger or small ( which much me .070 and less and match both left and right front gaps ), or the sensors are bad and getting irratic readings so it shuts the ABS off and throws those codes.
I will be ordering new ABS gears from ford ( abour $45 each ) and press those on and measure the gap. The only way to measure the gap is to mount a feeler gauge on the end or a long rod or small pole through the veins in the rotor. The Dust shield makes it so there is no other way to get to the sensor area and measure the gap.
Ill let you know how it goes later on in the week

What type of rotors did you use? I put new ones on a few years ago, just the standard auto parts store rotors and I have never been satisfied with them. They seem to give a little chatter even though they were cut twice and at this point I can only attribute this to the thin and light material of the cheap rotors. It's not bad bad chatter - and not so much of an issue that I am going to take everything apart. I've been driving it like this for four years with no problems, but next time I do the brakes I am going to invest in some quality Raybestos or some other brand of heavy duty rotors. It seems that Ford trucks have weak rotors, my 95 F150 bought new needed the rotors cut every 15,000 miles or even less, and I am not a hard braker nor do I drag the brakes.

I used Raybestos PG Plus rotors when I did my front brakes(I also replaced the calipers, pads, all bearings and seals, and put in a set of WARN manual locking hubs at the same time).
I just thought it would be more easy to swap out the rotor and hub as a unit.......they also came with the ABS tone ring already installed. Never had a problem.

I had some issues with my front abs on my truck, I just unpluged the sensors and put a picture over the abs light on the dash. I grew up driving vehicles without abs on snow and ice and dirt roads, so i don't really need abs, it is just something else to worry about. It actually saved me a couple of times when I was towing. That is just my opinion.
