Hi guys, I own a 1998 Ford Expedition Eddie Bauer 4x4 with the 5.4L V8. A few months ago the air bag light on the dash illuminated. It has been on since.
Im going to be selling the truck with in the next few weeks, so I can buy a new expedition.
I was wondering if anyone know how to turn that air bag light off. I dont really want to spend the money to fix the problem since im selling the truck. I just want to be able to turn the light off so I can sell the truck.
That light came on in my 01 f150- but it went off on its own. I read the owner's manual on the topic and it said to immediatly bring it to the dealer to fix the problem. Sounds like a few quick bucks to me-lol. The only other thing I know is to unplug the light, which I did once on my 87 f250 years ago- but I know this feat would much more difficult on these newer trucks. I don't know how to just turn it off, either. Sorry!
Scott
I would try playin with the pass air bag switch a little. Just a thought, I'm sure it's all part of that circuit.

In past experiences, if the light is staying on constantly there is a fault in the airbag system. Basically if you wreck, you may be SOL and the airbags may not deploy.
I would at least get it checked out to see what the problem is. It make be an accelerometer and not that expensive to fix. Would really suck to have someone get hurt when it could have been prevented if the airbags deployed when they should have. Or would really suck to be driving down the road and have them all of a sudden deploy. It is a safety device they are kinda important. It is not like the radio stopped working.
Mine did the whole flashing thing too, but like I said...it went off on its own. Sorry I can't help you any more than that. Good Luck with the project!

Hey guys I found the problem. It turns out the flashing makes a Code 32 problem. Code 32 is: Driver Side Air Bag/Safing Sensor Circuit - High Resistance or Open
So, if anyone knows, how much do you think this repair will cost me. I have to fix it in order to sell the truck. I will give the dealer a call tomarrow to get a price, I just rather hear it from one of you guys first this way I dont fall off the chair tomarrow when I find out the repair bill.
Hopefully it aint that expensive (fingers crossed)
