I'm having trouble turning left and I'm wondering what the problem could be. It is kind of choppy and feels like the power steering is out, but it turns right a little better than left, so I'm a bit perplexed.
It sounds to me like this has possibly hit a curb or something.
Has this vehicle ever been put in a position where damage to the steering or suspension could be rendered?
Possibly a steering linkage part after hitting a curb or something.
You could do an angle test from center each direction.
Also, with both wheel facing directly straight look to see if both
really are straight.
I actually had a similar problem with my '97 sport. Turned out I had gotten water into my tranfer case and the front end felt horrible when I was turning. My mechanic found a TSB from Ford on the subject. Turns out there is a new breather hose for the x-fer case. I don't know if this is your problem, but I hope it helps.
