Pilot Injection

Ok, what the heck is it anyway and why does the reflash take it away?

Well it helps to make the truck quiet at idle, why did they take it away?
A matter for Ford to tell us the correct answer...........I do not think they will

Is this the reason my truck seems fairly quiet at idle and then the second you touch the go pedal it becomes about three times louder?

According to the diesel techs over on the flatrate site (http://flatratetech.com/6literpowerstroke), Ford has not figured out how to implement pilot injection without the rolling idle and consider the rolling idle to be a bigger issue than loud idle. So, no return of pilot injection till '07 or thereabouts.

Tim does the piolet injection issue have something to do with some of the users gas milage issue also?

That brings up an interesting question. Who makes the control electronics for these engines? Ford or International?

No I was referring to the date at witch Ford will release the next PI.
I do not believe you have an issue.

I am not sure if I should even get into any discussions about the PI, I am one of those,... that do not care about the PI.
I know many do and I respect their thinking, I on the other hand cannot hear thunder….so
I do wish Ford would get it correct for all that care about it.

According to the service department at the dealer I use, Ford makes the PCM and the FICM. Or, it's a Ford design.

For a good reading on pilot injection and why it doesn't work with the 6.0 read here. . You need to read the whole thread to get to the real informative (and incredibly technical) parts.

PSD...
while the diesel stop may have some good views... most of those responses had disclaimers about their "guesses" (and so stated by a few of the posters)

Most know that I don't visit that site any longer due to the personal attacks allowed to go on there and also that I realized just as much (and more in many cases) exist here at FTE :-)

My post was not directed at you but rather to the forum in general. Those "guesses" were from some very knowledgeable people. One of them builds high performance injectors for powerstrokes for a living. So limit your information if you so choose, I choose to keep my eyes wide open, many others here may also. The OP asked a legitimate question and I pointed him in a legitimate direction.
