Solution to no 1-2 shift problem, C6, '75

On a previous thread I asked for help on a no 1-2 shift problem. Thanks to those who replied. I took the advice of a local "expert" and installed my other valve body from a '77 Lincoln, after disassembling it and carefully measuring every spring and making notes about all details of it, and my tranny now works perfectly. I also took the advice of this "expert", combining it with the valvebody bolt tightening sequence in a Transgo shift reprograming kit, and used 50 in. # on valvebody bolts. I have since disassebled my '75 valvebody and compared every spring and discovered that the 1-2 shift valve spring was almost 1/2" longer and the wire diameter was about .005" thicker than it the '77. So, I'm going to my local tranny shop and try to find a spring very similiar to the one it the '77 or cut 1/2" off the one that's in there and someday, when I'm really missing tranny fluid dripping in my face, change valvebodys and test it out. I want my '77 tranny functional too for whenI get my 557 ready for installation.

I wouldn't cut that spring off, There are different 1-2 shift valve springs & some are longer than others.

I stretched a spring about .15" which produced

a spring with the exact same dimensions, i.e. wire diameter, length and width, as the one in my '77 Lincoln valvebody which works perfectly. I'll swap valvebodies again when I get some time and see if the '75 valvebody works correctly.
