No, dual tanks was never an option on Broncos'. If you want to add extra tanks crawl underneath your rig and figure out where to put it! I doubt there is much extra room under there.
I have an 88 302 also and mine has a factory 32 or a 33 gallon tank. I don't know the exact because I can never afford to fill it to the top but once. I guess they must of came with different capacitys from the factory.
Stock it shows in my owners manual as 32gal. Gives me about a 300Mile range :-( That is why Im putting a mass air system with better cam and a 5.0HO motor in it.. should wake it up and get about 16mpg to boot (or better???) from what I have read.
My baby is much happier with a full tank. If it gets lower than 1/3 she starts to fuss... So I never have to fill more than 20 gal, but I have a 32 gal tank... Why do you want the bigger tank, just curious?
Starts to fuss? how so? Changed the fuel filter lately?
She just runs smoother on a full tank... And no, I haven't... the manuals and chilton both say the filter should last the life of the truck... think I should change it? I'm afraid of it doing more harm than good...
I cant imagine that you would do more harm than good. There has to be a reason you need a full tank to keep it running right. They tell you it should last the life of a car but how long did they figure someone was going to own her?
Really dont want to carry Jerry cans. Want something out of site and something that works slick.
What kind of mileage are you getting out of your 79 and have you rebuilt it?
Have a friend with one that we are going through as we speak so may bug you about getting some pics of some stuff if you would be so kind as we assemble this beast.
His has a 400M with an auto in it. Nothing special but it use to be mine

Not much room, but maybe you could fabricate something that fits inside the rear quarter panels. Not much capacity, either. Also, dangerous in a side collision.
Alternately, custom build a tank to replace your current one.
