Alternately, custom build a tank to replace your current one.
And if you did that you could move the sending unit maybe? That way if you have to replace something you don't have to drop the whole tank??
Just a thought...
and 569.00 is a bit stiff for a fuel tank. Think I would fabricate something before spending that kind of money for a fuel tank.
I am doing a Mass air conversion on my 88 bronco if anyone is interested I will post them on my website (www.aephion.com) either in the forum section or I will make a new folder. I will keep you posted.
Your gas milage sucks man... 32 gallons at 300 miles is about 9.8 miles to the gallon. I can go about 500 miles on a full tank. You might wanna work out some of those issues.
I could drive from Indianapolis, IN, to Springfield, MO, and another hour and a half south to Shell **** in my '79 (400 with a 33gal tank and aftermarket cruise control) at the 55mph speed limit. Ninety percent was I-70/I-40 and I think that cruise control made a big difference.
UBERMICH where in the heck do you live??? $1.80 a gallon!!! What a deal, I have been paying $2.38 for regular in my work truck and the premium my 78 bronco likes is soo much I do not even look anymore! I live in california.

what kind of mpg do you think he should be getting w/ an 88 302-3speed,no overdrive, california formula gas?that is just about what everyone I have known with one like that gets out here in calif!

lol. The great state of Texas. You guys think you're sooooo much better out there, but at the end of the day, everyone wishes they lived in Texas. </snide>
I actually paid $1.77 today, if I'd gone down the road a couple more blocks it would've been $1.76.
IIRC, ubermich lives in DFW, where I live. average price around my house is about $1.80 too. I was in Waco (~120 mi. south of Dallas) a couple of weeks ago, and filled up the bronco for $1.66/gal (actually in West, TX - about 15mi. N of Waco). I was ecstatic :-)
I remember my uncle telling me about his GTO and gas being $0.09/gal I can't imagine filling up my truck for $2.88
And if you want specifics, I'm near Fort Worth. And yesterday evening the station down the street had it at $1.75, but I don't know if that will last...
Oh I know my gas mileage sucks. I the most I think I got was 350miles on a tank (about 11mpg) and that was pure highway.
I am building a new motor for it as we speak. Will have a 5.0HO motor with an e303 cam, Mass air/SEFI conversion, free breating exhaust, a bit more compression and more efficient heads (wedge heads ported w/1.94 1.65 valves). Most of the mods will just make the engine more efficient and my old motor has 216,000 original miles on it so it is tired.
Thinking with my combo I should get somewhere around 16-17 but I have heard tales of up to 20 with what I am doing (highway). BTW I have the AOD tranny in mine and cruises at 2200rpm at about 70mph...
500 miles on a tank would be acceptable for sure! Right now I can hardly get from here to Los Vegas (275 miles) where I do a lot of business.
