first off im new here so hello everyone, so i have my 04 expedition and ok yeah so the dang thing has 28 gallon tank, gas light comes on and will only take about 21 gallons??? so today the light comes on again and i drive this thing till i think it will run out of gas, figure it may be like my 2004 srt4 where it will start to blink when it gets to the damn bottom and you need to fill. well the light went off after about 20 miles, showing 380miles o n this tank now, my question is when will i know it needs gas, will the dummy light start to flash? sorry for the first long post. any help will be greatly appreciated. thanks
On my 03 the "Low Fuel" message is displayed in the message center when I have 50 miles left. I get around 12.2 miles per gallon so that's about 4 gallons of gas left in the tank.
if i told you what model i had, well i have only the XLS model. nothing special or fancy on this. it is my wifes suv and she hates not knowing about the gas gauge. anyone else have any clues?
Hi rookie,Welcome....I never let my 04 expy go below 1/4 tank before i top off...so this one i really can't speak on ...but i have estimated that i get around 380-400 mi. to a tank...I fill up when i do 'cause I don't want whatever is in the bottom of the tank to get sucked into the injectors and mess them up....
My 03 low fuel light is screwy. Last time I let it go and actually turn on, I only had .8 gallons left according to the pump (tank capacity-pumped gallons=tank residual). That's a little close for me. Other times, it's come on and I've had 5-6 gallons left. As a rule, I can go 350-360 miles with about 1/8th of a tank left and a mix of city/highway. I have gotten over 400 on the highway consistently. I did get 450 once, but as a side note, it was a road I travel a lot and knew the exact distance between stations. Also, before a long run, I do make certain to "neck" the tank up for max distance. I've always wanted to let the tank run dry, but it's not worth the possible headache and damage.
