Has anyone with a 91-94 explorer ever used a larger than stock wiper blade on the windshield? I was thinking that i might be able to a one or two inch larger blade on it.
Well absolutely. Bear in mind that for every inch you increase, you're only increasing 1/2 inch on either side of the center pivot point. Mine are 20" each, try to get the kind that have slots in the blade frame part, they wont lift up in the wind. The kind to stay away from are the double blades, the strain on the wiper motor causes problems. By the way; all of them seem to work about the same after a month or so, I wish i had back all the $$ I spent on sexy blades. Just wipe em off with alcohol occassionally and you're good to go.
I second the alcohol idea. I've spent (read as: wasted) numerous dollars and "special" wiper blades like Bosch and others, but I keep going back to Anco. Why? Well, they work the best if you take care of them.
You can increase wiper blade size on any windshield if there is clearance and you have the correct blade housing. Keep in mind to keep the windshield wet because you now have increase resistance if it is dry.
