So, I have a 99 Limtited that I bought a month ago. I did not get a key fob with it for remote entry. I understand that all Limited models have this option standard. Tonight, I stop at Blockbuster. My girlfriend and I go back outside to get in the car. She had left the passenger side door unlocked. She opened it and all hell broke loose (horn blaring, lights blinking). I assume this means I have an alarm system??? As I said, I don't know since I never got a key fob. I recently bought one on Ebay for remote entry but I don't know if this will have any control over the alarm (assuming I have one). Can anyone give me some guidance? Will I need a special remote to operate the alarm or will it work with the remote entry one that I bought? HELLLLLLPP!!!
You need a remote from a '98 to '01. If yours is then you are all set. Now all you need to do is program you Explorer to the remote. Do that by turning your key from off to on (without starting) 8 times. After the 8th time leave your key on. Your locks will cycle Press a button on each remote you want your Explorer to recognize. Your locks will cycle with each button press. All others will be cleared from memory. Turn key off. Your locks will cycle. Your remote should now work.
