Does anyone know how to disconnect the horn honking part of the 2000 Ford 150 Keyless Entry Theft system? I use a remote entry key fob to open and lock the doors, but more times than not the alarm goes off and the horn starts blowing loudly. This is a factory installed alarm. I want everything to work except the horn honking! Don't want to unhook both horns as then I would not have a horn at all. My neighbors are getting a little annoyed I would say. Also, If it is disconnected, how would the Insurance Company take that if stolen and recovered? Thanks for any input.
Securilock is your PATS, passive anti theft system.
Keyless Entry with RAP Remote Anti theft Personality Module is what you need to be looking at. Look for the RAP module, should be on the driver side under dash. The horn relay control wire wire is the Yellow with Light Green striped wire. You can cut the wire and see if that gives you the desired effect. It wont cure the Alarm activation but should shut up the horn.
Hey, thanks Homer---I got in there and checked out the module and found the wire you were talking about (I think) It was the only yellow one with a thin green stripe on it. I didn't have the nerve to cut it right now, but instead just disconnected my horn and everything else is still working fine EXCEPT of course I don't have a horn, but the horn isn't that important right now. I will probably get up the nerve to cut the wire like you said. I tried to pull the wire out of the module without cutting it, but no go.
This is a really good forum and a guy can learn a lot about his vehicle as there is always someone who knows what to do. The Ford people will tell you to "bring it in" of course, no matter how simple it is and charge you dearly. Thanks again. Tigretom.
