AC clutch cycling problem - 96 Explorer

I have a 96 explorer 4.0L and the AC clutch keeps short cycling when the AC is not on. Even when the heater is on. Has anyone else run into this problem also?

The compressor will come on when the heat is in the defrost mode. This is true on most newer cars and trucks. Check your owners manual for specifics for your year vehicle.

I have the same problem with a 96 Explorer. ac clutch engages & quickly disengages when heat is on & vent position switch is not in defrost position.

Larry, I decided for the time being that I would just disconnect the power cable to thre compressor. I know that this is not a solution, but until we get some other response, it will have to do.
