You dont need to reformat. Take a couple of hours and enlighten yourself on how your computer works and what it should and should not be running in the background.

First start here and absorb the information in this thread. http://computercops.biz/postt6393.html - you dont have to read every word but do scan it and read the bottom. It also has every program you may need to help correct your system.

You can now post your Hijack This log and they will help you fix whats wrong with it, but read this first http://computercops.biz/postt8864.html

If you have read most of the info you should be able to kill things in the log yourself. When in doubt type in the file name in question on the web and it will give you background on whether its malicious or not.

IF you will take a few hours today to learn about this information it will serve you well for quite some time. Use the search function on the computercops site too and you can see what other people have had and how they fixed it.

I have never found a trojan/hijack that could not be removed w/o resorting to formatting and reinstalling the OS. If it got installed it CAN be removed...

What processes/programs should be running in XP? Hit Ctrl-Alt-Del and it will bring up your Task manager. Click on the Processes tab and that will show everything running on your system. You can remove a lot of them and increase system performance. Once you learn what should or should not be there its easy to fix things. Be very cautious to what sites you visit , for example.

I found a site with "free" MIDI files for mobile phone ring tones, the amount of spyware i had after i downloaded a couple of files was amazing, point is , it's not "free" !!!!

So beware "free" stuff on the net , that's where you will pick up loads of spyware.....
