with the 33" tires on my truck, it just doesn't have any low end torque. So, what's the best way to get more low end torque without changing gear's in a 4.0. I've already added an open air intake and a gibson cat back. I'm going to add a chip later on after I'm through adding stuff. So, besides those 3 things what all can be done? I'm not worried about high end, because my truck is mainly for trail ridin' and muddin'. Besides, it has more than enough in the upper range already.
Im sorry to say not much.Either go with a smaller tire{31/12 or31/10}. or go with a 4.10 gear. You can get a chip for it to help with lower end grunt, but that will coast about as much as the gear swap.Looks like you have done everything else to it,O yea headders they are a big help.
how much trouble is it to change out the gears being a 4x4? Also, where could I find the gears? would I need to change out the whole front and rear end or just the gears (has the 8.8" chunk).
you can get them at most parts stores,To Change them I would let a shop do it.you might get lucky and find some in a junkyard But you real dont know what your getting.on a 4x4 you need to change the front and rear gears they need do be the same.
With 33s id go with a 4.30s series gear. With 4.10s you won't notice that much change. You always need to match tire and gear if you get the right gear and tire your spedo will be right and your torque will be back.
Actually intake and exhaust only help top end wahn breathing is really important. i thought i read somewhere that a free flowing exhaust actually hurt bottom end torque by reducing back pressure, but dont quote me on that since im not sure where that idea came from. Who knows, maybe i made it up.
