I bought a 2000 Explorer EB from a friend of mine who never used the keyless entry code, so he couldn't tell me what it was. The codes are not with the owner's manuals. I called a dealership and they said they code could be found in the rear wheel well on the driver's side. I didn't find anything in there.
I got used to using it with my previous vehicle, and feel more secure knowing it. Can someone tell me where I can find this on the vehicle?

My keyless entry code was found on the drivers side, in the jack compartement on one of the electrical boxes. The numbers were very hard to see and we had to unbolt one of the boxes to see it.
He's right the keyless entry code is printed sideways (Up and down)on the computer box located inside the jack compartment facing towards the center of the vehicle in the cargo area on the driver's side. You shouldn't have to tear anything apart and with a bright flashlight you should be able to make out the code as I had to on my 2000 Explorer as well when bought from a dealer who had no clue. It was also located in the same spot on my previous Explorer which was a 1998....
I have searched and searched and searched for my code on my 2001 sport. I cannot find it anywhere, and it might be located somewhere else on this truck. Anyone had any luck with this one?
Ok -- maybe I'm blind, but I don't see any electrical boxes in the jack compartment. I'm looking for the key code and refuse to pay the deal $72 to tell me what it is. Can anybody help me?? Thanks!!
Take the cover off the jack compartment- this is in the cargo area, drivers side, below the power door lock switch. Look inside this area, towards the FRONT of the vehicle. You'll need a flashlight and a mirror, and you may have to pull outwards on the plastic panel. It's not easy to find, but trust us, it's there. You'll see a 5-digit number printed on a label that's attached to the control module. This module sits above the left rear wheel well.
Ok-- I'm going to try this again. Thank you very much for your response. I am "assuming" the jack compartment is behind the back seat (when it's folded down.) It's that little door you can open and store stuff in. I didn't see a power door look switch or any type of boxes when I looked before. I did undo some screws and pull the plastic fabric cover foward. I thought I was going to break it. Ok-- I'm going to get my mirror now and if it works I'll let you know. I could really use a periscope right about now. Thanks again! Cindy
!!
Ok- I showed your email to my husband who knows about cars (which I apparenly don't!!) He said (and I agree) there is no jack compartment in the "cargo" area. The cargo area is the bed of my truck correct?? My jack is in the back seat passenger's compartment. I looked inside my bed and saw nothing removable. I looked under the wheelwheel (driver's side) and saw nothing that could be removed (and I'm still not sure now what the jack compartment is. Are we still talking about a 2001 Sport Trac?? Thanks!! Cindy
I have a sport trac and I also had no idea the code. I found the code by doing the following: In the back seat on the passenger side, lower the seat down and expose the panal that has jack in it. Open that panel and peer in towards the middle of the truck. You should see a white box. If you try hard enough you should be able to see 5 somewhat large numbers in black. Give that a try. It worked for me. I will say I have seen several posts about the location being both behind the passenger side glove box and in the middle of the front console, so it may vary depending on the where it was built or some other factor.
Good Luck.
Ok-- I think I'm giving up. Short of me taking apart my entire car with a pair of pliers and a screwdriver -- I can't think of any more places to look. I looked behind the glove box. I looked on the hinges under the hood and by the tailgate. I looked in the center console under the rubber mat. I looked in the panel behind the rear passenger's seat, but couldn't completely get off the fabric part that is screwed onto the metal to expose what's behind it. I got part of it off, but then it started to break apart. I am still too stubborn to pay the dealer 75 bucks to do something that he should really be telling me how to do. Thanks again!!

Okay, now I'm totally confused. Above is your original post. A "Explorer EB" to me is an Explorer Eddie Bauer, which since 1995 has always been a 4-door with an enclosed cargo area: a traditional SUV. Are you now telling us you have a Sport-Trac? No Sport-Trac was ever sold with Eddie Bauer trim. I need to know what you're driving before I can help you out. Give me your 17-digit vehicle identiifcation number and I'll know for sure.
