I pull 5 4wheelers 16' trailer. With the pizza cutter tires have real hard time with traction, and water this is my first ford.... dont know lot about them but I want to find out all I can. Pulled my trailer first time sunday.Did'nt know it was behind me. Very nice. But like every one else I WANT MORE..... Dont want real big And from what I have found out 305's will work with no lift, what about gears, programers, intake, muffler(s).
What kind of tires are you running? If you are running the stockers, dont be expecting any measureable amount of performance off-road. When I pulled my Goodyear RT's off and put some BFG All Terrains on, I had a whole new truck!
A simple change in tire style will, for most intensive purposes, will be more cost effective in the long run.
The problem with going with a taller tire is that you change your effective towing ratio, and the only way to correct it is to use the stock tire size, or re-gear (which can get spendy on a 4wd).
On my 02' Supercrew I have added the following performance mods.
Diablo delta chip
Mac Intake
Flowmaster 40 Cat back dual exhaust
Ford Track Lock LS
Pullit, my cousin had the stocker 265/70/17 tires on his 03 4x4 and went to 305/70/16, it's alot wider and it's a 32.8" high Goodyear Wrangler tire, looks good and rides well. He also has 3.73s in his truck. I run 4.10s and 285/75/16 tires, it's also very good. Just like Supper said going to a taller tire will effect towing ratio. Rich
