yeah, but im finding this weird cuz on all of the other tb's that ive' sene there has definetly been a butterfly valve, even on rockledges' 4.0 you can see the butterfly thing, my truck is a 4.0 but it's 4 years older than his tho
aiight i got a digi and i got a picture of it, and i looked in my parents old '94 explorer, and there was no butterfly valve in tb on that one either. still weird i guess!
WELL i guess you will have to go to my gallery to see the butterflyless tb!!
yeah yeah i know that thanks, but i found out that (im assuming) not having the butterfly valve is supposed to be like that cuz the 94 explorer 4.0 doesnt have one either
You have the valve. Rockledges pic shows it; you can see the TPS which is common to the shaft on the butterfly valve. The other pic shows one very nicely too. It's nothing more than a round disk in a cylindrical section that rotates via a shaft; such shaft has a linkage to tie it into the accelerator pedal. Lawnmowers, weed wackers, blowers, snow blowers, edgers, etc that have a carb or some form of EFI need a way to regulate airflow; the butterfly valve does it. Engines with a carb often us one for the choke. If you can regulate your engine speed, you have it; it would be about impossible to drive any vehicle w/o it. One exception is a carb with a slider, but even at that it's purpose is the same as the butterfly valve.
That the MAF sensor you need to follow the rubber hoes to the engine thats where the TB at.
Ditto, that looks like the MAF on the front of the airbox to the passenger's side of the engine bay. The TB is on the other end of that rubber flex tube in the middle of your engine bay on the top/front of the engine. They seem to look similar in your year truck.
yeah yeah i know that thanks, but i found out that (im assuming) not having the butterfly valve is supposed to be like that cuz the 94 explorer 4.0 doesnt have one either
PLEASE somebody give me a BIG HAMMER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What you took a pic of is the MAF:Mass Airflow Sensor. You need to follow that tube that says "caution" on the top of it where it meets up with the engine, thats your TB. Take off that hose clamp, and look inside, you will find your Butterfly plate there. If you still cant find it, let me know, and i'll take some pics of my truck since we have the exact same setup.
On edit, i realized I had a pic of my engine compartment. I have an aftermarket intake on, so its not going to be exactly the same. Between the air cleaner and the shiney metal tube is the MAF circled in red. This is whats connected to your black box where your air cleaner is, and what you took a picture of. What i circled in green is the Throttle body. You need to unhook your black tube that says caution on the top of it, mine is chrome, yours is black, unhook that, and look inside, you will see your butterfly valve.
yeah i was lol yeah it seems like all of my posts are popular, ppl find them comedical in a way i guess, i personally in general do not find them funny and not trying to be funny but hey it's all good i suppose
