Hey guys, JUst got done searching old posts for an answer to my brake problems but can't find anything. I just got done doing a brake job on my 85 6.9 and they don't seem to be any better than they were before I started. I replaced the shoes, and had the drums turned in the back. And in the front, I put new rotors, calipers, pads, and bled the system. Like I said, the truck doesn't stop any better than before. I can't even lock up the tires. Anybody know whats up? The pedal isn't spongy and the truck seems to stop o.k. under normal driving conditions, but, I hate to think what would happen in an emergency. Did I miss anything? The truck being my only means of transportation I want it to be right. Any advice on the situation is greatly appreciated.
sounds like the brake valve is not centered .need to take it in to a brake shop and get it recentered.brakes are only working in the frt and not the rear would be my guess
I think I will have someone look at it. But, it doesn't seem like the front brakes are working as good as they sould. Even if I jam on them going backward, It still won't lock up the front wheels.
I believe the booster is working. If you apply pressure to the pedal when the truck is off it is very hard to push. But when you fire her up you can feel the booster asist.
