I was wondering if anyone has the towing specs for an 89 with the 7.3 diesel. The truck is a long bed ext cab single rear wheel. I was mainly looking the GTWR(gross trailer weight rating) of this vehicle.

I have a 90 srw. I looked it up in the Chiltons. They gave a weight to horsepower formula which was wrong. If I followed it I could not even put people in the truck, let alone tow anything. Whayever the rating you can tow alot. I have towed over 8000 lbs. Some tow more than that. There was a thread about that not too long age. Try a search for it. I also installed a Banks Trans Command to help.

 

I believe it's 13,000 lbs for auto, 14,000 for manual. This is the GVWR, so minus the weight of truck, what remains is towable weight. Somewhere around 8,500 lbs.
