On my superduty, under the coil strings there is a bolt at the axle side of the coil springs. It looks like a flat washer. In any event, when I hit a bump it CLACKS.
Initially, I thought it was bad shock. Replaced those. Before I take it to the dealer, I wanted to know a washer (or bushing) fits here).
I am actually put my hand on the part causing this. It is in the bottom of the coil spring. Imeediately below the nut is a metal washer, looks like it is a bushing.
I am unsure it is a radius arm bushing or a lower control bushing.
That part is called a coil spring isolator (not insulator, that's a different animal.) It is a white looking job that sits between the coil pad and the coil itself and comes up through the coil securing loop and stops just under the saucer-looking washer and bolt.
Now, I got to coil spring isolators. The dealer wants
$375.00 (including alignment) to install these. I have
no idea on how much labor is required in installing coil
springs. Anybody know of a local Offroad shop in Austin, Texas.
Diesel performance in Round Rock just worked on my truck, he was real reasonable and has 20 yrs exp. working on Fords, he works on superdutys primarily. I had a loose anti-sway bar that would make noise when going over a bump. It just needed to be tightened..
