Clickety Clack
My 91 F250 7.3 has a slight miss, can hear a ticking sound with it running. Today I was going to change the valve cover gaskets and find the noise. While I had the cover on the right side off, I started it up. With the cover off, there is a loud kind of clacking sound at the front of the head. Cannot tell for sure if it is a metallic clacking noise or compression coming up somewhere in the vicinity of the front two valves. While poking around, I found a bit if metal, bronze or copper looking inside the front valve spring. Kind of a round almost tube shape. Any ideas will be appreciated. Also, can you put the cylinder at TDC and get the valve spring off without pulling the head?
